Today (Sunday January 19, 2025), our oldest member, Norm Lockwood, was featured in Will King’s popular column in the Sunday Mail. The article reads;
KINDNESS OF STRANGERS
Torrensville Bowling Club president BRENTON ROLTON tells me that recently the club’s oldest member, life member NORM LOCKWOOD, 97, had a flat tyre driving to bowls at Grange at the corner of Grange and Holbrook roads. A kindly stranger stopped and gave Norm a lift so he arrived just as the practice ends were starting. “We don’t know who that person was but we are thankful that they helped out, as was Norm, our most dedicated member who turns up hail, rain or shine,” Brenton says. “And thank you to the club members who got Norm back on the road after the game.”
We are still unaware of who was kind enough to give Norm a lift to bowls at Grange, but Daryl, Porky and Dingo took Norm back to his car after bowls and changed a tyre for him.
Our thanks go out to the Good Samaritan that rescued our Norm, and please make yourself known to the club, so that a proper thank you can be made.
