On August the 2nd we opened our gates to the public for our official launch event, inaugurating our new undercover tech bowling dome, one of Australia’s best!
With our bowls in one hand and celebratory champagne in the other, we kicked off the day alongside various members of government. After several speeches and official photos, the Hon Senator Anne Ruston threw the first kitty alongside Mayor Coxon, Club President Ric Gatto and eldest club member, Norm Lockwood. To say the formal event was a success, is an understatement, we couldn’t have asked for a better kick off. Sipping on our celebratory drinks, laughing with one another, and nibbling on canapes, took us through to Bowled Over, the event for the public. Over 500 people attended the event! A large proportion of the crowd took it in their stride to register and participate in the age old game, lawn bowls, groups of friends and some partnering up with strangers too, led to a whole lot of fun, all in the spirit of giving bowls a go. The night was a huge success and we couldn’t have done it without our club volunteers, sponsors – big shout out to Never Never Gin & Lady Burra Brewery.
